One of the complaints about social media is that there are a lot of false claims being spread to large numbers of people. It seems that many people read something on Facebook and pass it on to other readers. The good thing about social media is that information is transmitted in short time to thousands of people. The problem is that there is the question of truth and accuracy. Can I really believe what I read on social media?

In John 10, Jesus is challenged by high ranking and respected religious leaders. Some believe Him and support Him. Many others do not believe Him and their goal is to discredit His words. They have observed Jesus going about serving the needs of people, but the religious leaders do not believe in Him. They do not believe that He is the Son of God. The people say that Jesus is not speaking plainly about who he is. On the other hand Jesus states that the reason that His words are not understood is that they do not know Him. They do not hear Him. His sheep hear His voice and follow Him because the Father gives them to Jesus. Earlier, Jesus had said, “‘No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day’” (Jn. 6:44, NASB).

If we truly know Him, let us hear His voice and follow Him. He gives eternal life to those that believe in Him. Let us pray that God will send workers into the harvest so that people will come to Christ and follow Him—be a disciple of Jesus.

Prayer: Lord, we are thankful that we heard your voice. Amen.
