Devotional: God Extends Grace Romans 3:23-31

The product crazy glue/krazy glue is unique in that it is able to bond two different surfaces that are different from each other. Also, crazy glue is able to bind the surfaces in thirty seconds. God’s grace is like crazy glue. God is holy. This means that God is different from people. Although mankind was created in the image and likeness of God, the man and the woman sinned resulting in mankind falling from their original state. Mankind also became separated from God and the relationship between the man and the woman was fractured. How can these fractured relationships be restored?

Grace is extended to all people regardless of their position and status in human society. Grace makes no distinction between people. In fact, grace has the unique ability to bind people with God, and grace binds together people that are very different.

Now, the idea that God can save people from their sins by extending His grace is generally accepted by most Christians. However, when it comes to our relationship with one another we find it harder to believe that God’s grace is able bind us together socially, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. For example, I believe that you are saved, but I do not believe that we can ever favorably coexist as people in the world.

Grace is able to take two different people and bind them together as one person. This is true because both people die to them self and live to Jesus Christ. My priorities shift from what was good for me before grace came into my life to how I glorify God in my new life. I no longer look out for myself. Instead, as the apostle Paul writes in his letter to the Philippians I now regard others as more important than myself. This view comes when I receive the love of God in my heart (Phi. 2:1-4).

There is nothing that you and I can do to obtain the love of God into our hearts. God is love. Therefore I must receive God by faith and by receiving Him I receive love. I cannot of my own free will or personal choice receive God. God extends grace and we are forever changed in our relationship to God and to other people.
