Matthew 6:25-34

‘“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you’” (Matt. 6:33, NASB).

All people have needs. We have emotional and psychological needs. Primarily we have need for oxygen, food, shelter, and clothing just to survive. In the absent of these survival needs we get worried. We may resort to behaviors that we would not under better circumstances. How do we meet our needs? Do we steal? Do we sell our souls? Do we allow ourselves to be controlled by our needs so that we do what we intuitively know is wrong?

Jesus answers these questions for us. He acknowledges that we have needs. Jesus teaches us that there is a way to have our needs met without resorting to immoral and unethical behaviors. The kingdom of God has the resources to meet our needs. If we find the kingdom we have access to the resources. In the kingdom there is no need to worry. In the kingdom no one lacks anything. All needs are met. So, we do not wander around looking for what need. We seek the kingdom and all needs are met.

How do we find the kingdom? When we surrender our life to Jesus, making Him Lord and Savior of our life we have found the narrow gate to the kingdom of God where all needs are met.

Prayer: father, we thank you that You sent Jesus, Your Son, so that we might have access to the kingdom of God where resources are available to meet all of our needs. Amen.
