Devotional: Share with Others

1Timothy 6:17-19

“Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share” (1Tim. 6:18, NASB).

I was sharing with my daughter the email that my cousin Barry had sent me about church growth. She commented, “The more people the more money.” The desire to have money causes people to do evil thing hidden under a righteous agenda. As Paul closes his letter to Timothy he warns him that many people have fallen into temptation, and some have wandered from the faith (vv. 9-10).

Ministry is not a means to gain money (v. 5). Ministry is about sharing with others what the Lord has blessed you to have. Ministry is a conduit that the generosity of God flows through to reach people that have needs. When we are sharing with others what God has blessed us to have, we are less likely to worry about what we do not have.

Prayer: Lord Jesus we thank you for all that we have. Give us a spirit of sharing so that others will be blessed. Amen
