Ephesians 5:1-20
The world in which we live is filled with uncertainties. This is especially true when it comes to the subject of values and morality. I have learned that Christians can become accustomed to the things that are seen in the wider culture in which we live. This truth is always present in the world. I can become desensitized to evil if I ignore it when I see it. In 1982 I moved from Cleveland, Ohio back to my home state Tennessee. After living in Cleveland, Ohio for nine years it did not bother me when I read the number of murders in Nashville, Tennessee. At the end of May seventeen murders had been committed in Nashville. I was accustomed to hearing about murder almost daily in Cleveland; about 200-300 per year. A coworker reminds me that Cleveland is a larger city and a more crowded city so there is more crime. I began to realize that I should care about life; any human life. So, instead of having a nonchalant disregard of what is important, I am to speak the truth in love so that things that are wrong will be exposed.
Prayer: Lord, we ask that you give us wisdom and discernment so that we will be sensitive to what is right and wrong. Let us expose evil when we see it. Amen.
