Hebrews 12:1-3 I was never a regular member of a little league baseball team, but twice I was a participant in the game. How did this happen? One team is short of a player. The league officials get together and discuss forfeiting the game. However, all the coaches of both teams and the league officials want the boys to play the game. They decide that they will find someone in the crowd of proper age to be on the team short of a player. One of the officials that know me asks if I would like to play. I agree and for just this one game I am a member of a little league baseball team. The church is made up of people that have been called from the crowds to play in the game. In Hebrews 11 the author tells us about many persons who did not seek to become a member of God’s team. They were content with their life. God has a need for them. Why? It is because members of the team play the game, and then they leave the team; sort of a retirement you might say. The departed players still watch the game. They encourage and support the players participating in the game. Jesus is still calling those not on the team to play in the game. They are qualified to play because they believe in Jesus. They learn to play the game better as they learn about the game. Their coach is Jesus. He is the prototype player that is the example for all players. Will you participate in the game? Prayer: Father we thank you for allowing us to become members of your team. We want to be the best player that you would have us to be. Amen.
