Revelation 3:14-19 ‘“So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth’” (Rev. 3:16, NASB). Randolph is born with great skills to play basketball. Man, he can shoot that ball. His shot seems impossible to be blocked because he releases the ball from behind his head. You are more likely to foul him than you are to block his shot. The head coach will not allow Randolph to play on the team. Why? You may ask. It is because Randolph is not a good basketball player. He will not play defense. He will not pass the ball. Randolph only wants to shoot the ball. His lack of defense allows the opposing team to score more points than his own team. He shoots a difficult shot and misses when he could have passed the ball to a teammate that has a wide open easy layup. Randolph has great skills. Randolph is not concerned about the team’s success. The coach will not allow him on the team. Jesus tells John to write to seven churches. The last one, the church at Laodicea is an indifferent church. Laodicea has great wealth, but Laodicea does not use her wealth to further the kingdom of God. Laodicea reasons that she has everything. She is in need of nothing. So they do nothing to win souls for Christ. Laodicea is not a good church. She is satisfied with what she has. Christ will not allow her to remain a part of His team. He will spit her out of His mouth. Be careful that you do not become like Laodicea. Prayer: Father, we pray for your strength as we endure suffering for your name sake. Your Spirit kindles the fire of concern for lost souls. We suffer with Jesus in full assurance that we will be glorified with Him. Amen.
