Matthew 26:36-46 Some of the hardest decisions to make are when we are torn between our feelings as opposed to what seems logical. What determines our final decision? While serving at a local church I was often torn between staying in my position and leaving. I was often frustrated and disappointed, and I felt like leaving. On the other hand, I was certain that God had called me to my position. I knew that I should remain until the Lord gave me permission to leave. One of the reasons that I was struggling with a decision is that our feelings can interfere with our thinking. Jesus knows that His purpose is to die on the cross. This was determined before the foundation of the world. Yet, Jesus is a man. He has human feelings and desires. He does not want to die, and that is natural. In His struggle He ask the Father if it is possible that there is another way to save humankind except He give His life. Jesus knows that the Father’s will takes priority over anything that He feels. He says, “Thy will be done.” This is how I made my decision. One Sunday morning God spoke softly to me telling me to leave. I obeyed His voice and I am satisfied that I acted according to God’s will. Prayer: Lord, we thank you for revealing your will for our life to us. We pray that our decisions agree with your will for us. Amen.
