Daniel 6:16-23
‘“Your God whom you constantly serve will Himself deliver you”’ (Dan. 6:16, NASB).
Tonight I am watching the ABC evening news. Anchor David Muir reports on a high school senior who is valedictorian of her class. She will be attending Stanford University. The unique thing about this young lady is that she along with her mother and sister has been living in a car. The young woman says in her valedictorian speech that whenever things got difficult she would sing a song recorded by Gloria Gaynor. The title of the song is “I Will Survive.”
In Daniel 6 we read about how King Darius is persuaded by government officials to sign a petition forbidding anyone in the kingdom to make a petition to any other god or man except the king. Daniel, however, continues to pray three times a day. Daniel is reported to the king. The king is distressed when it is reported to him that Daniel violates the decree. The king is bound by law to have Daniel placed into the lion’s den. After giving the orders to cast Daniel into the lion’s den he expresses his belief that Daniel’s God is able to save him. “Your God whom you constantly serve will Himself deliver you.” Daniel survives the lion’s den because the angel of the Lord locks the jaws of the lion. Daniel can say like Gloria Gaynor “I will survive.”
Regardless of the circumstances in our lives we have the assurance that those who have faith in Jesus will survive. We will not always make it in this life, but we will be resurrected from the dead. We will spend eternity with Jesus. We can say I Will Survive.
Prayer: Thank you Father for raising Jesus from the dead. Because He lives we live also. When we are at the low points in our life may we remember the words I Will Survive? In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
