Galatians 6:1-8 Why do we judge others? Is it because we think that we are better than others? Maybe it is because we over estimate our own righteousness. Paul writes to the church at Galatia because some were making the claim that in order to be saved one must believe in Jesus and keep the Law. Not true Paul writes. “It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery” (Gal. 5:1, NASB). Christ set us free from the Law. Jesus died and gives us His Spirit so that we can live in the Spirit. Yes, even believers are sometimes guilty of a trespass. Paul gives us instructions to help a brother or sister out. He says, “Brethren, if anyone is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens and thereby fulfill the law of Christ” (vv.1-2, NASB). There is a warning here stated. If we get an inflated ego we risk being caught up in a sin ourselves. We are to guard ourselves from temptation as we help others to get back on the right road. Help the brother out. Prayer: Lord Jesus, we thank you for your saving us from the penalty of sin. Empower us by your Spirit so that we are saved by the power and presence of sin. Let us pray together so that we can help one another to live for you. Amen.
