Devotional: Truth or Lie

John 8:43-47 When our children were growing up I often warned them to be aware of the voices that they listened to. I reminded them that there are many voices from many people. The main thing is that they needed to know which voices are from the voice of God as opposed to the voices that are the voice of the devil. In this dialogue that Jesus has with the Jews Jesus warns the people that the desires of their hearts come from the devil evidenced by their desire to murder Him and their refusal to hear the truth. The devil is a murderer while Jesus gives life. The devil is the father of lies while Jesus is the truth of God. The devil speaks from his nature and the voice that we follow reveals our nature. Jesus tells us that we can know the truth by believing in Him and continuing in His words. We can have the nature of God if we believe in Jesus and receive the Spirit of God. Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for coming to the earth to teach us the truth that comes only from God. We believe in you and we believe you when you speak the Word of God. Amen.
