John 8:31-36 ‘“So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed” (John 8:36, NASB). Have you ever felt trapped? Sometimes I feel trapped by the things that are taking place in my life. I do not feel free. For example, I want to buy something, but I cannot because I do not have the money. Financial obligations for necessities make it impossible to buy the things that I want. I am trapped. I want to be free so that I can do what I want to. Why do I feel this way? Is it because of my desires of my fleshly man? I ask: Is it a sin to think and feel as I do? Frankly, sometimes I do not have a clear answer to my questions. What sustains me in times like these? It is in knowing that in Jesus I can be free from every thought and natural desire that holds me captive. When I pray and meditate on God’s words He gives me a new perspective of my situation. He gives me peace of mind. I am free indeed. Prayer: Thank you Lord Jesus for your love that sustains us. You give us your words and your mind so that we are free from the cares of the world. In you we are free indeed. Amen.
