2 Corinthians 5 “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come” (2 Cor. 5:17, NASB). In this text Paul describes the difference between life lived under the Old Covenant, the Law of Moses, and the New Covenant, the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ. Paul describes the life without Christ as living in an earthly tent that is temporary and fleeting. The life secured by grace through faith in Jesus Christ is eternal. While we live in this body we are absent from the Lord, only He has given us His “Spirit as a pledge’ (v.5 that we will be with Him. Paul urges us to live a life pleasing to God (v. 9). This means making Jesus the Lord of our lives. This new life is built on the teachings of Jesus (Matt. 7:24-26) as we strive to be good disciples. The new life in Christ calls for new morality, new ethics, and new behaviors. When we become new creatures in Christ every aspect of our life; mental, emotional, will, and spirit are changed. With a new perspective on life that is Christ centered, we are more able to move forward in our lives. Make Jesus the Lord of your life and watch what an amazing difference that takes place in our life.
