Revelation 21:1-9 The book of Revelation is the writing of John in which he writes to a persecuted church to encourage the people to continue in their faith. He tells them that many things will take place in heaven and earth that gives reasons that may cause many people to give up and fall from the faith. John writes to tell the church that in spite of the calamities that take place God is aware of their sufferings. Indeed, God is in control of everything that takes place. He assures the church that the day is coming when those who have kept the faith will come through trials and tribulations and stand before God dressed in white robes (Rev. 7:14). After describing the events that take place in heaven and earth John says, “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no more sea” (Rev. 21:1, NASB). John sees the holy city (v. 2) and the benefits that come to those who live there (vv. 3-4). John hears the words of the one who sits on the throne saying, ‘“Behold I am making all things new’” (v. 5). In Revelation, the believer is assured that a new day is dawning in which God will reward all who have faith in Jesus Christ.
God grant us the faith to live for you regardless of the circumstances in our lives. Give us the strength to face every situation with the assurance that the day is coming when you will make all things new in your kingdom in heaven.
