Read John 18:28-37
“Jesus answered, ‘My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this realm” (John 18:36, NASB).
When Jesus was walking on the earth He demonstrated God’s love for humanity through His teachings and the miracles that He performed. Jesus knew that He had power over all things, and He used His power to show us that His kingdom has more to offer us than any kingdom on earth in the physical realm. Those who came to Jesus for help came because they had heard that Jesus could heal their sicknesses and diseases that no doctor or human method or medicine could do.
Have you noticed that in great national calamities those who oppose Christ rarely speak out against those who believe in Jesus? Instead, they wait until they sense that the danger is over before they seek to gain control. Christians are to be concerned about the human condition in the world today. They may work with those who do not believe in Jesus as long as it does not call for them to compromise the teachings of Jesus and their worship of God. Just as Jesus told Pilate that His kingdom is not of this world, those who side with Jesus await for a kingdom ruled by God in new heavens and a new earth. Christians are to remain steadfast in their devotion to God regardless of circumstances, so that we will have an effective testimony for Jesus.
