Read Hebrews 13

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (v. 8, NASB)

The writer of Hebrews wrote to a people who lived in a world of controversy and conflict. Many of them were persecuted; even rejected by family members and close friends because they did not share the same religious belief. They had believed the Gospel and Jesus is their savior.

We will not always agree with one another, both in the church and out of the church. Our hope is not in a world in which everyone comes to agreement about the things in this life. In the world today, our hope is the same as it has always been. Jesus never changes. His promises are eternal. As it has always been, we must build our hope on faith in Jesus Christ.

Lord God, we thank you that we can trust in our God who never changes. We are not always sure of what is right or wrong, but we can be sure that you love us. We know that you will always keep your promises to us. Amen.
