An Open Door

Read Revelation 3:7-13

Sometimes I get frustrated. I think about how God has blessed me to have a career as a Registered Nurse. I think about how God has blessed me to obtain a seminary degree. I have a loving wife and children to be proud of. I become frustrated because I think that I should have done more in ministry at this time in my life.

Jesus’ words to the church at Philadelphia help me to overcome my frustrations. The church at Philadelphia was a small church. It had little power and had not done anything that would be considered. Jesus was pleased with this church, because it had been faithful to keep His word. Jesus promised this small church that He would open a door for greater service. No one would be able to stop them from doing what God had called them to do. We can be thankful and praise God for opening doors for us. The door that Jesus sets before us leads us to the place where God wants us to serve.

Lord Jesus, give us your word that we may proclaim your salvation in the place where you open the door for us to serve. Holy Spirit empower us to work to bring glory to God. Amen.
